Nevjabai Bhaiya Hitkarini Education Society was established in 1941 with a middle school at Bramhapuri in eastern Vidarbha (then C P & Berar). Founder Presidents Late Shri. Madangopalji Bhaiya and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj, of NHESB embark on the mission of providing education to the backward, tribal and deprived section of this area. The college is located in a serene private campus of 44 acres at Bramhapuri taluka with constructed area admeasuring 15,308 sq.mt. College campus is spread in 42 acres well enclosed with a long wall from all sides. Paving blocks (gattu) are laid down all over the campus with an arrangement of water conservation techniques. Two storied main building and four storied new building with 01 indoor stadium, 24 classrooms, 31 laboratories, 10 seminar halls, 32 other rooms for laboratories, extension units and departments, two hostels are available.Though Bramhapuri village is in Chandrapur district, it is just 10 km from bordering Wadsa taluka of naxal-affected Gadchiroli District. Nevjabai Hitkarini College established in 1962 with Arts faculty, is multi faculty, private, grant-in aid institution with ISO certification. Commerce stream started in 1963 followed by Science stream in 1971 and that of Post Graduate Department in Commerce in 1973. It was awarded B+ and B grade with CGPA 2.86 in 1st and 2nd Cycle respectively by NAAC.
College is offering 21 programmes across Arts, Commerce and Science streams along with add on, certificate and value added courses to foster global competencies among students. 25 of 37 teaching faculty are Ph.D. guides. 02 of the faculty members have undergone 03 MOOC courses. To promote ICT enabled teaching and learning teachers are regularly deputed to undertake faculty development programme on Communication and Technology. Out of 49 sanctioned posts 37 are filled whereas in order to make up the remaining workload 136 temporary teachers are appointed to meet the requirements of around or more than 3000 students every year. 19 faculties are on various bodies of universities. 25 of the teaching faculty are Ph.D. guides with 43 research students. Appropriate Research labs and facilities (University Recognised Higher learning and research centres in Zoology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Commerce, Marathi, English, Economics, History. Ph.D. in Zoology, Geography and Physics have been going on since 2012-13. Quality research papers in Scopus and ICI data based sites. College offers 21 programmes in total. Apart from running UG programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce along with PG in Commerce on grant basis, college has started PG programmes (Humanities) in subjects like Geography, Economics, Home Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, English, Marathi, M.Sc. in four disciplines Physics, Zoology, Botany and Chemistry, B.Lib. & Info. Science and M.Lib. & Info. Science under Library Sciences to meet the needs of the students.

In addition to these programmes, advanced programmes in Microbiology and Computer Science, certificate courses in Fashion Designing and Functional English are also conducted to develop job oriented skills. Since 2016-17 job oriented certificate courses in BUSY, TALLY & Computer Hardware (Assembling) have been started. 28 value added courses conducted in 2018-19. New certificate courses in Sericulture, Soil Analysis, Solar Technology, Mushroom Cultivation and Tribal Tourism commenced from 2018-19. Library is automated with LIB-MAN software. It has its own website www.nhcdigitallibrary.in. Apart from students services on it, the links of INFLIBNET and NDL are given to access more than 6000 e-journals, 31,35,000 eBooks, 221 CDs and DVDs, Braille software ABRAR for the blinds. It also has 2847 reference books, 39097 text books and 77 journals.
